Maritime Autonomy for Integrated Security – Building the Future of Maritime Protection

BlackBoats develops autonomous maritime systems to secure Europe’s critical infrastructure at sea. Our concept has been recognised by key stakeholders in federal law enforcement, naval forces, and energy operations. Now, we are entering the next phase: turning vision into deployment.
From offshore wind parks to undersea cables and busy coastal corridors – the maritime domain is increasingly exposed to hybrid threats. Our systems offer a dual-use approach: built for situational awareness, tiered response, and seamless coordination between civilian operators, the federal police, and military forces.
Acknowledged. Needed. Ready to Build.
- ✅ Scenarios are known.
- ✅ Technology is available.
- ⚙️ Implementation is next.
The German Federal Police and security experts have confirmed: maritime autonomy is not a distant dream – it’s a necessity. With BlackBoats, we now have a system design that brings together clean tech, tactical logic, and legal alignment.
We are not just prototyping. We are preparing for real-world integration – with operational clarity and strategic commitment.
What Our System Enables
- Persistent presence in offshore zones
- Real-time detection of potential threats
- Smart classification and live alerts
- Escalation logic aligned with authority chains – from operator to military
“Security cannot be retrofitted. It must be designed from the keel up.”

Join the Mission
BlackBoats is not built for war – but to prevent it.
We offer a new logic for security at sea: intelligent, scalable, integrated.
Now is the time to close the gaps between detection and action, vision and responsibility.
🤝 Let’s coordinate.
⚓ Let’s build.
🛡️ Let’s protect what matters.
Founder
Diana S. Engelhard is the founder and strategic architect behind Black Future Boats. As EU Architect for Security, Innovation and Climate, she operates at the intersection of autonomous systems, European security architecture and sustainable maritime technology.
She is a recognised pioneer of fully autonomous, zero-emission vessels based on real-time edge decision-making architectures. Since 2021, her teams have delivered the world’s first fully autonomous and zero-emission vessel registered with an official boat number and global insurance — a milestone in sovereign European maritime autonomy in mobility and logistics.
Her work at the interface of technology and European security policy has been recognised by Table.Media, which named her among the “Table Top 100” — the most influential decision-makers in the European security and defence ecosystem. She is also a member of Women in International Security (WIIS).
