Tagesschau.de report confirms what we’ve long been working on
Offshore wind farms are more than symbols of a green transition – they are maritime critical infrastructure.
And as such: strategic. Vulnerable. Decisive.
By 2030, Germany plans to generate 30 gigawatts of offshore wind power – the equivalent of 20 nuclear power plants.
Both must be protected.
At sea, these installations represent more than energy – they offer the potential for a maritime outpost capable of safeguarding the entire coastline.
Sustainable defense. Or: protecting progress.
🛡️ From civilian vulnerability to sovereign responsibility
The Bundeswehr’s 2025 symposium “Sustainably Acting, Defending Securely” at Helmut Schmidt University made one thing clear:
🛑 Private operators cannot defend against state-level aggression.
âś… Integrated security requires sovereign instruments.
âš“ Europe needs an energy and defense policy that matches the geopolitical reality.
“Europe must not only represent its values. It must be able to defend them.”
Energy policy is geopolitics. And geopolitics is security policy.
Freedom doesn’t come free of charge.
âš“ BlackBoats: A Response to a Strategic Gap
At the symposium, Diana S. Engelhard, founder of BlackBoats, presented a system designed to close a critical gap:
- Autonomous, networked surface vessels
- Permanently stationed at high-value targets (HVTs)
- Interoperable with police, military, and energy operators
- Capable of detecting, warning – and, if necessary, acting
The vessels operate in intelligent swarms – coordinated, scalable, quiet.
This approach was featured in the German Police Journal (01/2025) and has been discussed with the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI).
Our integrated security vision also resonated at panels hosted by the Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS) and CASSIS – with consensus on one point:
Europe needs a unified, architectural approach to deterrence.
🎯 Deterrence without escalation. Presence without provocation.
Our vessels provide real-time situational awareness, identify threats, and – if required – respond.
Not only as a (sadly) necessary safeguard,
but as a proactive contribution to securing the maritime frontier.
🇨🇳 China has long integrated civilian fleets into grey-zone military operations.
🇪🇺 Europe still hesitates. But time is running out.
We say: let’s stop reacting – and start protecting.
Systematically. Strategically. Sustainably.
📺 The report may come as a surprise to many.
But for us, it’s long overdue.
